Ambient seismic noise in Cuba: analysis of broadband seismic stations in the Cuban Seismic Network
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper analyses seismic noise from broadband stations within the Cuban National Seismic Service, focusing on location sites, soil or rock quality at installation sites and impact of various factors signature these stations. A brief technical description deployed equipment is provided methodology for data selection analysis presented. The study provides annual performance assessment each station, considering specific details particular case. Likewise, effect diurnal/nocturnal seasonal variations power spectral density (PSD) analyzed. In addition, plotted graphs show relationship between occurrence extreme weather events, such as hurricanes cold fronts through eastern western regions, respectively, increase level, specifically marine microseisms period band. Finally, influence instrumental in level characterized.

Event-driven Seismic Interferometry with Ambient Seismic Noise
SUMMARY By cross-correlating recordings of ambient seismic noise, one can retrieve the subsurface reflection response. The quality of the retrieved reflections would depend on the qualities of the ambient noise. In a previous study, we cross-correlated ambient-noise data recorded in a desert area in North Africa and showed that we retrieved reflections. This was done assuming that body-wave noi...

متن کاملVariation in Seismic Noise at Seismic Stations with Implications for Event Detection
A network of 23 analog seismic stations was established in Pakistan to monitor seismic activity. The instrumentation of seismic stations includes short period seismometers with natural period at 1 Hz. The seismic noise conditions of five seismic stations are studied to determine the detection capability in the frequency range from 1.0 Hz to 10.0 Hz regarding monitoring of local and regional sei...
